Promoting the NTN

08.12.10

Making it possible to test the New Telemark Norm, the Rottefella stand was a highly appreciated feature at the recent ski demo in Hemsedal.

Ski demos must be every skier's dream. Here, they get to test, discuss and judge the news on the gadget front; do you prefer a full rocker, an early rise or why not go old school and try some real carving? For the makers, demos are lots of work, some freezing and a bunch of happy faces.

Hemsedal hub

Hemsedal is an important destination for showing off the latest inventions, as the visitors tend to invest in not only one pair of skis, but a whole bunch to match icy as well as powdery conditions. Dedicated skiers know what they want, and they don’t compromise when it comes to equipment.

Maiden ride

From a strategic position just beside the lift, Rottefella encouraged both skilled and not so skilled telemarkers to get hold of a pair of NTNs. Some were convinced after just one ride, while others needed several hours to convince themselves. For most of them, this was the first time with NTN between their feet and skies.

Demo Queen

- The NTN is stiffer than traditional telemark bindings, which means you have to use more power to make the turns. But the stiffness pays off in stability, precision and speed.

Marte Vaage Øie knows what she’s talking about. For the last four years she has represented Rottefella at ski demos, and she is an advanced telemark skier herself.

Tactics

Rottefella puts great effort in arranging valuable test opportunities. It’s a crucial part of the marketing, and cuts the distance from thinking of buying to actually buying.

- During this winter we will have about eight demos located at the main ski destinations in Norway. We have also chosen to emphasize the destinations close to Oslo this year, and will be present at both Tryvann and Kongsberg.

Still, it’s important to reach not only the masses, but also the skiers in the districts. To sum up: Rottefella travels a lot.

Smile award

Enjoying the Norwegian winter can be freezing cold. When the temperature turns below -20°C, it can be a challenge to be that super service minded person.

- Our main function is to adjust, fix and help. Smiling and being positive make the testers get the best experience, Marte says.

Based on the look of the faces coming back from a test ride, it seemed like Rottefella succeeded in just that in Hemsedal.
